Northern Jacana (Jacana spinosa) is a tropical species that is most often seen in the U.S. in extreme southern Texas. There have been only a handful of records for AZ.

This bird became a birders sensation when it was discovered at a gold course pond in Casa Grande (about half way between Tucson and Phoenix). Some golfers claim the bird has been around in previous years, and it has just been reported again this winter from the same location.
